2009 Spring Conference Information
The 2009 Spring Conference will be held March 4th, 2009 at NWTC in Green Bay. Dr. James Williams, a full-time ER doctor and part-time Wisconsin police officer will do the first half of the day on "Tactical Anatomy" which is designed to get instructors and officers to view the human body in 3D for targeting purposes. The second half of the day will have both law enforcement and corrections sessions. The law enforcement session will be "Multimedia Use of Force Instructor." The corrections session is still being finalized. Look for more information on all the sessions and logistics soon.
As a bonus, NWTC will be scheduling the Unified Tactical Instructor Updates on the day before and again on the day after the conference, so in two days you can do both the UT Update and attend the confernece.

Changes in Membership Renewals and Application Fee
At the General Membership meeting last month, the membership approved a change in the way membership applications and renewals are handled. Beginning on Oct 1, 2008:
1- all new memberships will be good for two years, not one, and will expire on Sept. 30th, every other year.
2- the dues rate of $20/year remains the same, but will be collected for two years instead of one
3- membership applicants will pay a $10 application fee.
4- You'll never have to worry about the application/renewal fee if you don't let your membership expire.
The Board of Directors is looking into membership cards or other methods of letting you know your expiration date.

2008 Trainer of the Year
The 2008 Trainer of the Year was honored at the Awards Banquet in Eau Claire. Lt. Chad Billeb of the Marathon County Sheriff's Dept. was the award winner. Chad is a department firearms instructor and teaches specialized training and in the recruit academy at Northcentral Technical College. He was the instructor for the 2007-2008 Firearms Instructor UT Update. When you see him, congratulate him. He's a deserving recipient.

2008 Training Coordinator of the Year
LETOA presented the 2008 Training Coordinator of the Year award to Jerry Halbleib of Chippewa Valley Technical College at the annual Awards Banquet in Eau Claire. Jerry was recognized for his work in the law enforcement academy, corrections academy and specialized training offerings. When you see him, make sure to congratulate him. He is a deserving recipient of this award.
